What You’ll Love About Crockpot Chicken and Gravy Recipe

  • Super easy recipe for a busy night
  • Delicious dinner in winter months
  • Comfort food meal
  • Family-friendly
  • Made with just 4 simple ingredients
  • Just 5 minutes of prep time

Ingredients

  • Chicken – I recommend using boneless skinless chicken thighs for best flavor. You could also use boneless skinless chicken breasts, but I prefer thighs as they have more flavor. Be sure to use raw chicken and if using frozen, thaw overnight in the fridge.
  • Italian Dressing Mix – This is a dry mix packet for Italian dressing that you can find in your local grocery store in the salad dressing section. Here’s an organic version if you prefer.
  • Chicken Gravy – I used a jarred chicken gravy, but cream of chicken soup could also work, though may have a slightly different flavor. You could also use homemade gravy, storebought gravy, chicken gravy mix, or gravy packets. You’ll need 1 1/2 cups of prepared gravy.
  • Cream Cheese – The cream cheese helps add an extra creaminess to the crockpot chicken and gravy recipe, but you could also omit it if you prefer. It’s delicious with and without it. You could also stir in a bit of sour cream or heavy cream instead.
  • Egg Noodles – I love serving this easy chicken recipe over wide egg noodles, but it would also be delicious over mashed potatoes, white rice, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice.

Storage Instructions

Store leftovers from this crock pot chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

How to reheat

Reheat creamy chicken in a hot skillet or in the microwave until heated through.

Can you freeze creamy chicken?

I would not recommend freezing the chicken as the creamy sauce could change texture, but if you want to give it a try, skip the cream cheese to help lessen a shift in texture.

How to Feed Chicken and Gravy to the Whole Family

I get it, feeding kids can be tough! But following the Division of Responsibility and knowing your job and your childโ€™s job makes it SO much more enjoyable. Youโ€™ll be able to feed your kids any meal, which will help ensure that they are eating a variety of nutritious foods โ€“ with plenty of play food sprinkled in.

I would recommend serving the chicken in gravy in a pinch bowl (taster bowl) if itโ€™s a new or learning-to-like it food. Serve the meal with a few items you know your kids will eat, like fruit, milk, and/or bread and butter if they don’t do noodles.
