Ingredients
You’ll need just 4 basic ingredients to make this copycat Starbucks double shot espresso:
- Espresso – You can brew your own espresso (I use an espresso machine but you could also use a nespresso machine!) or even use a concentrated cold brew or strong coffee. You’ll want to shots of espresso, or about 2 ounces. The strong coffee won’t have quite as much flavor and you may need to adjust proportions of milk.
- Sugar – You have a few options here. You can use regular, granulated sugar or a granulated sugar substitute if you prefer. You can also use a simple syrup, vanilla syrup, or any other type of flavored syrup. Add more sugar for a sweeter drink to your preference.
- Heavy cream – This helps give a rich and creamy flavor and texture.
- Milk – Use 2% low-fat milk or skim milk to keep it as close to the original version or your favorite milk alternative. (Scroll down to FAQs for more milk options.)
Here are the ingredients from the canned drink:

The starbucks drinks has been the only thing to give me ANY sort of get up and go, but man do they get expensive at 3-5 a piece! even purchasing in bulk on amazon was almost $3 a piece and having them in bulk in my house just made me drink them more, I’m talking 3-4 a day to get me through the day! I decided to look up recipes to make it cheaper (so much cheaper as i have all but the cold brew concentrate on hand at all times, but that $10 lasts me much longer than the 12 pack of bulk SB drinks i was buying constantly!) I can not believe how much it tastes like the real drink and man does my husband like the saved money!! i have this recipe memorized and can do it in my sleep, which I do seem to do most mornings! THANK YOU for making this recipe! my husband, bank acct and I all love you for it!!
