Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel
This bacon, egg, and cheese bagel is an iconic breakfast for a reason – it’s SO delicious! And it’s also incredibly easy to make at home. This satisfying meal is loaded with classic breakfast flavors and will keep you going until lunchtime time and is a favorite breakfast at our house. (Just like my McDonald’s inspired steak egg and cheese bagel!)

You’ll make this breakfast bagel on repeat!
It’s comforting, filling, fast, and always satisfying. It feels like a treat, but is really pretty simple to make yourself.
I’m sort of a bagel snob, but when making a breakfast sandwich like this, I actually prefer more of a grocery store bagel that’s a little softer and less substantial so that it’s easier to eat when it’s in sandwich form.
😋 Seriously delicious: Crispy bacon, melty cheese, and a perfectly cooked egg…this sandwich keeps you satisfied until lunchtime.
🛒 Made with simple ingredients: If you’re a breakfast person, you probably have everything on hand to pull these off.
🍳 Easy to customize: See ideas for additions and flavor enhancements below, you can make this your own!
⏱️ Quick to make: Just 10 minutes start to finish (so long as your bacon is already cooked!).
💪 High in protein: The combination of eggs, cheese, and bacon will keep you full all morning.
🥓 Better than takeout: No need for the drive-thru when you see how easy and delicious this sandwich is.
You’ll also want to try bagels and lox, Greek yogurt parfait, ricotta toast, or full English breakfast.

Ingredient Notes
You’ll need a few fresh ingredients to make these bagel breakfast sandwiches: bagels, eggs, bacon, cheese, and butter.

Emily’s Tips & Tricks
- Cooking methods: Scramble the eggs lightly for a soft fold, or cook sunny-side up if you love a runny yolk.
- Feeding kids without pressure: Serve these as separate components for younger kids as sandwiches can be hard to eat for young kids! Serve bagel with scrambled egg, slice of cheese, and bacon for a deconstructed bagel breakfast sandwich.
- Additions: You can easily add extras to this sandwich: cream cheese, sliced tomato, sliced onion, avocado slices, salad greens, hot sauce, sriracha mayo, hot honey, everything bagel seasoning, etc.

Description
Make your own bacon egg and cheese bagel at home! This classic breakfast sandwich is quick, easy, and packed with protein.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 4 eggs
- 8 slices cooked bacon
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 bagels
Instructions
- Heat 1/2 tablespoon of butter in a nonstick pan over medium-low heat.
- When butter foams, carefully crack eggs into the pan. Gently cook, breaking the yolk if desired, and folding up the edges of the egg white to form a similar shape to the bagel.

- Cook the egg for about 3 minutes, then gently flip over, top with a slice of cheese, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the egg is cooked to the desired consistency.
- While eggs are cooking, toast bagels and heat up bacon if necessary.
- Lightly butter bagels if desired, then top the bottom bagel with fried egg and melted cheese, bacon slices, and the top bagel.

Notes
- Storage: Store the breakfast sandwiches in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
- Freezer storage: You can freeze these breakfast sandwiches for 2-3 months. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Let thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
- Ingredient notes: Use high-quality eggs for the best flavor. You can cook your own bacon or buy it precooked to save some time.
- Prep ahead: To meal prep, I recommend cooking the eggs and bacon ahead and storing them in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to eat, reheat them in the microwave, toast the bagel, and assemble the sandwich.
- Serve with: Fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, Americano, iced latte.
Serving Suggestions
This sandwich is pretty satisfying and filling, but if you want to add a side or coffee, here are a few ideas:
- Sides: Hashbrowns, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt.
- Coffee: Americano, latte, sweet cream cold foam.
