Thawing is optional.

One of my favorite things about cooking fish in the air fryer is that thawing is totally optional! Forgot to pull your protein from the freezer? No problem.

Emily’s Tips & Tricks

  • Pro tip: Don’t overcrowd the basket! Give each fillet space for even cooking and browning. Work in batches if needed.
  • Shortcuts: Cook right from frozen, which cuts down on any sort of prep time!
  • Feeding kids without pressure: I would recommend serving the fish in a pinch bowl (taster bowl) if it’s a new or learning-to-like it food. Serve the meal with a few items you know your kids will eat, like fruit, milk, and/or bread and butter. Watch the video below to see a visual on how I served mahi mahi to my own (young) kids.
  • Variations: Add some different seasonings to the fish! Cajun, Old Bay, or a fish or seafood seasoning blend.

Description

EASY air fryer mahi mahi recipe! Made with just 3 ingredients and can be seasoned so many ways! Cook mahi mahi in air fryer right from frozen.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 6oz. frozen mahi mahi filets
  • olive oil
  • lemon pepper seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Spritz mahi mahi with olive oil spritzer and season with lemon pepper on both sides.
  3. Lay down piece of parchment paper on bottom of air fryer basket and place fish on top.
  4. Air fry at 400 degrees F for 12-14 minutes, or until cooked through. Edges will be golden brown, flesh will be white, and the fish will flake easily when done cooking

Notes

  • Cooking time is frozen mahi mahi. If using thawed fish, decrease cooking time to 8-10 minutes.
  • Cook until fish reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.
  • Storage: Store any leftover mahi mahi in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Gently reheat the fish in a hot pan or skillet or 350-degree F air fryer, just until warmed through so you don’t overcook it. Microwaving is not recommended.
  • Ingredient notes: Use high-quality fish for best results.
  • Special tools: An air fryer is obviously a must, an olive oil spritzer is awesome to have (though not mandatory), and a meat thermometer is also a must!
  • Serve with: A simple veggie (haricot verts, or air fryer broccoli) and a simple carb (garlic bread or rice) is all you need.
