Ingredient Notes
You’ll need some fresh ingredients and pantry staples to bring this easy kielbasa and pierogies meal to the table: kielbasa sausage, onion, bell peppers, frozen pierogies, olive oil, salt, pepper, sauerkraut, and sour cream.
- Frozen pierogies: Many grocery stores carry pierogies in the freezer section. Some of the varieties will say that you need to thaw them before baking, but for this sheet pan dinner, thawing is not necessary. There are many types of pierogies, and you can use any of the savory varieties. Classic flavors like cheddar, caramelized onion, or sauerkraut are delicious and what I would recommend using.

Emily’s Tips & Tricks
- Pro tip: Don’t overcrowd the pan! To ensure the kielbasa and pierogies can brown properly, arrange the components in a single layer on the sheet pan, using two sheet pans if necessary.
- Shortcuts: Use pre-sliced bell peppers and onions from the produce section to cut prep time even further or spend a few minutes chopping before dinner to make the prep even shorter.
- Feeding kids without pressure: This is one of those meals that we’ve been serving for years and it’s always a different combination of who will eat what (besides my husband and I, we’re stable and always fans of this meal!). Serve the meal with a few sides you know your kids will eat (milk, fruit, bread with butter) and tiny portions of the sausage, pierogies, and veggies if it’s new to them.

Sheet Pan Kielbasa and Pierogies

Description
This sheet pan kielbasa and pierogies recipe is the easiest way to enjoy delicious and classic Polish flavors. Prep in 10 minutes!
Ingredients
- 24 oz. Polish Kielbasa sausage
- 1 medium white onion
- 4 sweet bell peppers (red, yellow, orange)
- 24 oz. frozen pierogies
- 4 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. sea salt
- freshly cracked black pepper
- for serving: sauerkraut, sour cream
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Slice sausage into 1/2-inch slices on the bias.
Cut onion into half-moon slices.
Cut peppers into 2-inch pieces.
- Pile sausage, onion, peppers, and pierogies on a sheet pan.

- Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss together to coat everything in the olive oil and spread out in a single layer (use two sheet pans if you need to, we don’t want to overcrowd the pan).

- Bake for 30-35 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Serve with sour cream and sauerkraut if desired.

Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat leftovers in a 350-degree F oven for best results or microwave until warmed through. You could also reheat in a hot skillet if you prefer.
- Ingredient notes: Look for a high-quality kielbasa sausage. I like the local Minnesota brand Thousand Hills from the Co-op or Teton Waters Ranch from Costco. Many grocery stores carry pierogies in the freezer section. Some of the varieties will say that you need to thaw them before baking, but for this recipe, thawing is not necessary. There are many types of pierogies, and you can use any of the savory varieties like cheddar, caramelized onion, or sauerkraut.
- Prep ahead: If you’d like to prep components ahead, you can cut the kielbasa, peppers, and onions a day or two in advance so that all you need to do is season and bake when you’re ready to eat.
- Helpful tools: A large rimmed baking sheet prevents overcrowding and allows proper air circulation for browning.
- Serve with: Sour cream, sauerkraut, or a simple green salad to balance the richness.

Serving Suggestions
If I’m making a sheet pan meal, I definitely want it to include all of the components in a balanced meal – protein, veggies, and carbs. So most of the time, you don’t really need any sides. However, I do still like to include a few things with this dinner:
- Sour cream: A classic accompianment to pierogies, sour cream is a nice addition. Use your favorite sour cream or even plain Greek yogurt.
- Sauerkraut: Sauerkraut is another classic accompianment to kielbasa. You can use any type of sauerkraut, but my favorite is a raw, fermented sauerkraut (the kind you find in the refrigerated section of your store). Not only does the raw sauerkraut add a healthy dose of probiotics, but I think the flavor is superiour as well!
- Easy side for kids: Not everyone in our family appreciates this dinner – yet! So I’ll often serve it with some easy sides that don’t require any prep like bread and butter, fruit, and milk.
