When I started the weeknight dinner club, I honestly didn’t think it would change the way we eat as a family that much. The meals, the style of eating, the ingredients we use, how we cook – I was just trying to share that with others!
But as I look back, it has changed our eating. And for the better!
Let me explain. It’s nothing drastic, but we eat at home more – less take-out pizza and potsticker meals. We eat a better variety of foods because I’m looking at things with a closer eye. AND we are eating a wider variety of breakfasts and lunches!
Mostly out of necessity, because I’m always testing and trying out new ideas for the group, but I have to say that I love it! It’s so important to feed kids a wide variety of foods, especially when they are young, to expose them to many different flavors, textures, cuisines, and foods.
And if I’m guilty of getting into a food rut with any meals, breakfast would be it! (Hi frozen waffles, toast, and yogurt!) It’sย just how bagel fruit pizzas came about.

What are bagel fruit pizzas?
They were created with a nod to the traditional fruit pizza (you know the ones on a sugar cookie and topped with frosting!) but with a bit more nutrition and less sugar. They are so simple: bagels topped with cream cheese and sprinkled with fresh fruit. Add a touch of honey if you need a little sweetness.
Bagel fruit pizzas are sweet and creamy, a bit crunchy if you toast the bagels and a fun art project if you let your kids top their own bagels. (That was an idea from a mom in our group, and I think it’s a brilliant one!) Simply toast the bagel, spread it with cream cheese, and give them a little bowl of diced fruit.

What You’ll Love About Breakfast Pizza with Fruit
- Nutritious
- An easy meal that the kids can get involved with
- Delicious, sweet, and wholesome
- Made with just a few ingredients
- Minimal prep

Ingredients
- Bagels – You have options when it comes to bagels. Aim for whole grain or multigrain bagels, especially when your kids are little and have less opinions about food. ๐ Otherwise, any type of plain or fruit flavored bagel will work.
- Cream cheese – You can use plain cream cheese, or you could add a sweet cream cheese like strawberry, honey, or any other flavor that will pair well with fruit.
- Fruit – Use whatever type of fruit you have, it’s nice to have a few different kinds for variety and color, and it’s also a great way to use up a few fruit odds and ends. Cut everything up into small pieces. You can use berries, kiwi, grapes (cut up!), melon, etc.
- Honey – Optional, but if you need to add a bit of sweetness, drizzle with honey (for one year olds and up!).
