Giada Dogs (Italian hot dogs with peppers & mozzarella)

Ingredients

  • 3 bell peppers (variety of colors)
  • 1 small white onion
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt 
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 baguette or loaf of French bread
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 23 oz fresh mozzarella, diced


Instructions

  1. Thinly slice peppers and onion.

  2. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat and add peppers and onions, cooking for about 5-7 minutes, until vegetables are soft.

  3. In a small bowl, stir garlic into butter until mixed.

  4. Grill or broil hot dogs.

  5. Slice baguette in 4 even pieces, and then cut in half horizontally and spread butter mixture on bread. Broil bread for about 3 minutes, until golden brown.

  6. Top with hot dog, pepper mixture and mozzarella cheese.

  7. Broil until cheese is golden brown and bubbly, 2-3 minutes.


Notes

  • Use a variety of peppers (orange, red, yellow)
