There are times when you need a snack.
Immediately.
Or is that just me?
There are often a few options – plain carrots (sometimes boring) or processed vending machine snacks (sometimes not very healthy, rarely filling). And then there are the snacks that fall somewhere in between. Ideally, they’ll contain a combination of fresh foods, protein, a bit of fat and some fiber so that they stick with you for longer than 5 minutes.
Here are some of the quick snacks I rely on, please add your own to the list, I’m always looking for new snack ideas!
Quick 1 Minute Snack Ideas:Â
- tortilla + pesto + cheese  – microwaved for about 30 seconds
- apple slices + nut butter
- hot pita bread + hummus
- tortilla chips + salsa + refried or black beans
- toast + nut butter
- frozen waffle + apple slices + slice of cheese – broiled until cheese melts
- cottage cheese + fruit chunks
- smoothie: frozen fruit + spinach + milk + greek yogurt – blend until smooth
- slice of whole grain toast + smashed avocado
- handful of almonds + square of dark chocolate
- sliced cheese + triscuits
- greek yogurt + granola, cereal or fresh fruit
- quick deviled egg – halve hard boiled egg, mix yolk with 1-2 tsp mayo + salt + pepper, put mixture in egg whites

toast with apple butter and a smear of goat cheese is my fave!

Ugh that FEED ME NOWWWW feeling is the worst. I like primal jerky strips for that – tasty, a great boost of protein and all you have to do is rip open the wrapper and eat!
Emily
Ok, those things have always kind of freaked me out, but I’ll try them!

I love dipping apple sliced in full fat Greek yogurt. So filling and satisfying from the fat, protein and fiber!

Awesome snack ideas-thank you! My favorite right now is an organic apple with almond butter-YUM.

Thanks for your suggestion on adding spinach to my smoothies – don’t taste it but I know it’s there, love it! 🙂
Emily
Yay! Glad you like it! 🙂

love all of these ideas! I recently started on the tortilla & cheese in microwave thing and am loving it!

Love these! I am always looking for new, non-boring snack ideas. Can you make a post on healthy breakfasts? I REALLY struggle with figuring out what to eat for breakfast aside from oatmeal or eggs with fruit…
Emily
Yes I will do a post on that Amy!

I love the idea of a tortilla with pesto and cheese! And tortilla chips, salsa and beans is often one of my go-to’s as well! Silly question, but have you ever done a post on how to cook a hard-boiled egg? I know it’s not rocket science, but I also know that it is somewhat temperamental. Any tips? (Or if you haven’t done a post, I would love to see one about that with a healthier, yet flavorful egg salad sandwich recipe!)

Great snack ideas! I will admit that I tend to get into snack ruts (I’m too lazy to come up with a new idea for something every day!). One that I’m on now is a few Wasa crispbread crackers spread with a little cream cheese and jelly.
