I’m a Costco member again! We were members years ago in LA, but the stores out there are SO hectic, and took too long to get to, so it just wasn’t worth the hassle. But after we moved back to Minneapolis, I didn’t waste any time getting back to the Costco life. I love that I can find a wide variety of healthy items, and plenty of natural and organic options at reasonable prices.

I do have to admit that I was a little shocked by how busy the store I visited was in the middle of the week! But any hesitations quickly dissipated when I started filling up my cart  and Demi definitely approved of the sample situation.

Healthy Costco Shopping List:

baby carrots

Cal-Organic Baby Carrots ($5.99 for 5 pounds) I used to prefer peeling and cutting my own carrots. Then I had kids! I’ve found the Cal-Organic brand to taste the best, and I love having a huge bag of carrots for easy grabbing, snacking, and lunch-packing! (I give Demi whole ones if they are thin, but cut the thicker ones in half for young eaters so they aren’t a choking hazard.)

kirkland brand almonds

Kirkland Whole Almonds ($12.99 for 3 pounds) Our family doesn’t leave the house without a bag of almonds! They are definitely my go-to snack whenever I need a dose of protein and fat in a rush. Forgot to eat breakfast? Almonds. Hungry before lunch? Almonds. Snack in the car? Almonds.

amylu breakfast chicken sausage

Amylu Organic Breakfast Chicken Sausages ($13.99 for 42) Now that we’re all eating breakfast at home, every morning, it’s nice to have a few easy options to switch things up. These sausages come in three packs and I’ll cook one pack at a time, which lasts about two meals for us.

holy land hummus

Holy Land Hummus ($5.99 for 36 oz.) Holy Land is a local Twin Cities brand, but it is some of the best hummus so hopefully it’s available outside of Minnesota! We’ve been dipping carrots (see above), peppers strips, pita bread, and anything else dip-able. 🙂

organic valley stringles

Organic Valley String Cheese ($6.99 for 24 cheese sticks) This is an amazing deal for organic string cheese and Organic Valley is a favorite of ours. We love them for quick snacks on-the-go or lunches.

taylor farms asian salad

Taylor Farms Chopped Salads ($4.99 for 19.1oz) We regularly buy prepared chopped salads for lunches that pack in a ton of veggies without any prep work. This size lasts us two lunch-size salads, but could also be used as a side salad for a family.

kerrygold butter

Kerrygold Grass-fed Butter ($8.99 for 3-8 oz. bars) This is our favorite butter, and it’s the kind of product that once you start using it, it’s hard to use anything else. I like that the milk comes from cows are grass-fed. They flavor and texture is superior!

ozery morning rounds

Ozery Breakfast Rounds ($4.59 for 12 buns) These breakfast rounds are a new obsession for us, so I was glad to see a larger size at Costco! They are delicious toasted and topped with a little butter. (See above.) I like that they manage to pack in a bit of goodness into something that tastes so good.

whole me clusters

WholeMe Clusters ($8.99 for 22 oz.) These grain-free clusters are made with almonds, coconut, honey, sunflower seeds, coconut oil, almond extract, and salt so they taste like a treat, but I love that it’s all wholesome ingredients – and a really short list!

kirkland almond butter

Kirkland Almond Butter ($7.49 for 27 oz.) Want to know the ingredients in this almond butter? Roasted almonds. That’s it! It’s got protein, fiber, healthy fats and is a great spread for sprouted bread for a nutrient-dense and filling breakfast!

I just love that Costco makes organic chicken affordable! We get their organic chicken breasts, tenders, & thighs for $4.99/ lb. And while you’re on the Kerrygold kick, you should try their block of Dubliner cheese. It’s around $12.99 for 2 lbs and in a regular grocery store, this item can cost $6.99 for 6oz! You can even freeze it and eat it sparingly.
