Smash burger tacos are not losing any steam on social media, and if you haven’t tried them yet, watch a few of these videos and you’ll be heading to the store to grab ingredients immediately. I’m sharing everything from the original to totally different versions. Burgers have never been so fun!
This popular trend started from Brad Prose, who is a cookbook author and food blogger that runs Chiles and Smoke. He has a full recipe write-up on his site if you want to have detailed instructions and plenty of tips to ensure they turn out perfectly.
@cravingsbychrissyteigen Smashburger tacos, Chrissy’s way! ???? We decided to put our spin on the trending dish using our tried and true Enamel Skillet. It starts with seasoned ground beef (as burgers do, lol). Roll into a ball then place a flour tortilla on top in a searing hot pan, smash, using a heavy object (or burger press), then flip. Add cheese and a cover to melt it, and then top with a delicious homemade burger sauce made with ketchup, mayo, mustard and chopped dill pickles. The result? A smashing success (see what we did there?). Head to Cravings.com to shop our trusty Nonstick Cast Iron Enamel Skillet and for the full recipe! #smashburger #smashburgertacos #tacotuesday #tacotuesdayyyy #burgertacos ♬ Caramel Latte – Prod. Even celebrity Chrissy Teigen jumped on the trend and made her own version (to highlight her skillet from her cookware line). The smashed burgers are topped with a homemade burger sauce made with ketchup, mayo, mustard, and chopped pickles.
This version from My Everyday Table is based on the Midwest burger chain Culver’s and is inspired by their deluxe burger which is a smash burger, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and mayo.
This Greek-style burger is made in a similar way, but uses a pita bread instead of tortilla and is topped with a Tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, cucumbers, dill, mint, and feta. Looks so fresh and bright.
This In-N-Out version from Shred Happens is topped with a healthy serving of caramelized onions and fresh lettuce and tomato for that classic Animal-style flavor.
Foodsteez describes his version as “if Shake Shack and Taco Bell had a baby” but what makes this video so special is the precise chopping skills. It’s a video you’ll want to watch over and over again. The burger is topped with a mayo mixture and then topped with finely diced onion, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce.
This green chili burger is topped with white American cheese, roasted green hatch chilis, and a creamy chipotle sauce. It looks dreamy with a hint of spice.
