11 High-Protein Cottage Cheese Recipes Taking Over Social Media
If you spend any time on social media, you should be fully aware that cottage cheese is still having a moment (or year or YEARS). And if you don’t spend any time on social media, let me fill you in – cottage cheese is having a MOMENT! And it’s so much more exciting and fun than when it was a peak 80’s diet food.
Creators all around the internet are turning protein-rich cottage cheese into sweet desserts, savory breakfasts, and everything in between. So what’s the deal? Cottage cheese is incredibly high in protein – just a 1/2 cup has about 13 grams of protein. For comparison, a 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt has 10 grams of protein. Cottage cheese is a great way to add some more protein into your diet and lucky for you, there are incredibly delicious ways to do it and many start with a base of whipped cottage cheese.

1. Cottage Cheese Ice Cream
Let’s start with the most controversial (at least in my opinion!), cottage cheese ice cream is blended up until smooth, lightly sweetened, and then includes some sort of flavor addition like fruit or cookies, like this version from Fit Foodie Finds. I think this is one that people either love or hate, so you can decide for yourself.
2. Cottage Cheese Veggie Dip
Veggie dip with a protein boost from My Everyday Table (me!)! This is like a classic veggie dill dip that’s made with cottage cheese instead of sour cream. You can adjust the seasonings to turn it into a ranch dip too or add a squeeze of lemon juice to add a touch of brightness to the dip.
3. Cottage Cheese Bowls
This savory bowl from Fed and Fit combines cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, and a lightly dressed salad, along with olives for major flavor. You could eat this anytime of day, or pair it with toast for a full meal.
4. Cottage Cheese Toast
Grilled Cheese Social shares three different ideas for cottage cheese toast and they all look incredible, full of flavor, and are sure to be a nutritious start to your day. She includes versions that are both sweet and savory, so no matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ve got options.
5. Cottage Cheese Pasta
Feel Good Foodie blends together marinara sauce, cottage cheese, and some pasta cooking water for a creamy and smooth marinara sauce with a protein boost. Serve over your favorite pasta for a high-protein and vegetarian meal that the whole family is sure to enjoy.
6. Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough
This one might be another controversial recipe, but it actually looks and sounds really good! Jake Cohen blends together cottage cheese, protein powder, and a sweetener before stirring in almond flour and chocolate chips for a protein-packed snack that’s best eaten straight out of the bowl with a spoon.
7. Cottage Cheese Pizza Dip
This dip utilizes cottage cheese as the base and then is loaded with pizza flavors from marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni, which is then heated together in the microwave. I’m intrigued because I typically love pizza anything, but I would probably eat it with bread, which I think defeats the purpose of this. ๐

8. Cottage Cheese Scrambled Eggs
This trend makes sense as the cottage cheese would just kind of melt into the eggs and I think the two textures would work really well together.

9. Tiffany Plate
You have probably seen this trend as it’s gone VERY viral. Probably because it’s a polarizing one. The creator Tiffany is using this as a weight-loss meal, and it’s just personally not for me. I like the components on their own, but together is questionable.

10. Cottage Cheese Queso
Not only does this look and sound so good, but I appreciate that the creators show it being served with tortilla chips. A lot of the cottage cheese trends can feel a little (or a LOT) diet-y to me and if I’m eating queso, I’m eating it with chips (and maybe some veggies on the side).
11. Whipped Cottage Cheese
Meet the elevated sibling to humble cottage cheese โย whippedย cottage cheese. Through processing or blending, youโre doing two things โ turning the texture from curd to creamy and adding air for a whipped and light consistency, similar to ricotta cheese. You can use this blended cottage cheese in a savory breakfast plate, or enjoy it with sweeter flavors.
The whipped version maintains the flavor of cottage cheese (and its desirable protein content) but has a smooth and creamy texture. If you donโt like the texture of cottage cheese, this might be the alternative youโre looking for!
